Manavgat Waterfall

It wasn’t a too clever a day, it had been stormy all night with thunder storms, but by early morning it had cleared up, a little overcast but not cold. We decided to go to the Manavgat waterfall; our friends had been there previously and said once you have seen it why would you want to visit again! So we decided to travel by Dolmus, those squeeze you in taxis, that travel a set route but set down and pick up as you go, it costs the princely sum of €2,- a head to travel from the hotel to Manavgat city and then a further , €1,- to go to the waterfall .

We arrived at the waterfall, and paid another €1.50,- to get into watch the spectacle LoL!, Now don’t be surprised, this is not Angel, Niagara or Victoria falls, I would put them just a little behind the High-Force in the spectacle ratings.  High-Force being higher and Manavgat being a lot wider, as there had been a lot of rain during the night, the river that rises in the Taurus mountain was in full spat.

We spent a good 30 to 40 minutes, taking photographs of the falls.

We also watching a couple of anglers on the opposite bank, one caught a quite a nice sized fish; I would say about 400g.

It is such a pity that people use rivers as a refuse disposal unit! The banks of the Manavgat are full of soft drink tins, plastic bags and the rest of the flotsam and jetsam of human waste. TAKE THEM HOME WITH YOU!

We stood and watched an Old lady making Dürüm bread, then made our way back to the Dolmus, feeling not exactly robbed but somewhat underwhelmed.
